1st March 2012 – The Cowboy Hall of Fame

While in Oklahoma city, I had a few hours to do some sight seeing, so I decided to go to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

It certainly was well worth having a look through. It had fantastic displays and artwork depicting the wild west scenery and way of life. These included an actual wild west town (All indoors), various dioramas and collections of wild west artifacts. I have included a number of pictures to give you an idea. One of the highlights was an amazing painting of a storm moving over the grand canyon. Unfortunately I was not allowed to take photos of it, so if you want to see it you will have to travel to Oklahoma.

One of many displays, this one was of  some of the different
cattle brands used by the cowboys
One of the Dioramas depicting a hunter shooting Bison,
these  beautifull  creatures were shot by the hundreds of thousands
only for their hides, which were shipped to Eroupe.
